This is a costume I made with my housemate, a blue team Mk VI Spartan from the Halo video game series. (My housemate being in the red armour)
I wore this to October 2009's MCM Expo and boy, did we get a huge response!
We used a program called Pepakura to turn 3D models of the Halo armour into pieces we could print onto cardstock, then build in a physical space. We then took the cardstock base and resined it with fiberglass resin, then fiberglassed the inside of the helmet with resin and mat fiberglass sheets. Once that was done all that was left to do was paint it all.
We had a few problems with strapping some of the armour to our bodies. My bicep armour wound up being tied to me with shoe laces and a red ribbon as a last resort on the morning of the convention XD
Unfortunately the armour did not survive the trip home and I am currently in the process of building a new, more detailed set.
Thanks to everyone who came and said hi to us at the Expo, we had a great time
(Also, thank you to whoever took this photo, it's brilliant!)
